Hospitality Committee takes off

Posted by admin on Jul 23, 2008 in Meeting News |

Our Meeting’s newest standing committee is looking for a few good, err, Friends! The Hospitality Committee is organizing our Meeting’s greeting, meeting, and eating, and would like to hear from community members willing to commit to helping once every few weeks. Their intention is to try to share these “opportunities” with a number of people so one person isn’t overburdened. Hopefully we will deepen our sense of community in our Meeting with these activities.

  • Greeting: The committee seeks volunteers to greet people as they come into Meeting for Worship. This commitment involves arriving early and forgoing the singing prior to worship.
  • Meeting: After worship volunteers are needed to meet those people who have identified themselves during announcements as newcomers to our area. They would be provided with information about the Meeting and literature about Quakers if they want it.
  • Eating: The committee seeks to better organize the provision of food and beverages for Sandwich Sunday and Business Meeting. This would entail bringing some food, serving and cleaning up. If there are enough volunteers we could have snacks on the other Sundays as well. Of course others from the Meeting would be welcome to contribute food without prior arrangement with the Committee.

If you agree to be put on the calendar, please e-mail Margaret N stating what you are volunteering for and which Sundays you would NOT be available in the coming months. Also, if you know of anyone not in the Directory who might be interested in helping, please let her know.
